AMY HEAD GIRL

2018/2020

" Amy Henderson, Aged 18, Head Girl Danceworld, 2018 - 2020

I started dancing from the age of 2 and joined Danceworld at age 8. I started with ballet, tap and modern dance classes before quickly adding street and musical theatre then drama then commercial. I achieved high marks in my BATD elementary grade ballet, modern and tap exams and BATD street freestyle third award along with my musical theatre and drama LAMDA exams both at grade 4.

I have always loved the performing arts for as long as I can remember and cannot wait to do it as a career. Here are some of the events and experiences I have been lucky to be a part of;

As part of Danceworld’s Elite Troupe, I have danced at the Towngate Theatre on the Pasha and Katya’s An Evening with the Stars of Strictly Come Dancing Tour 2013 and 2014.

I, along with my fellow senior troupe members, also competed in the British Arts Awards 2019 at the Polish Theatre and we came 3rd out of many groups from across England.

We were also invited to dance at the BATD Conference in London in 2019. It was a wonderful experience as we were surrounded by so many people with a passion for the arts.

Throughout my time at Danceworld, I have played a part in raising money for charities such as the Karis May Darling Foundation and Children in Need through performing at specific events and flash mobs.

In November 2019, I danced as part of an advert for Cineworld Basildon, which later led to myself and the rest of the senior troupe performing live our 42nd Street tap routine at the cinema’s debut of the West End cast recording of 42nd Street. This has led to a partnership with Cineworld Basildon to perform at similar upcoming events.

I was also invited to dance at a community celebration of Basildon’s 70th anniversary where I performed my tap solo, choreographed by one of my teachers Sally Ritchie, in front of the Mayor of Basildon, David Burton-Sampson.

Danceworld is truly a magnificent stage school where I have made friends for life and had so many wonderful experiences and memories.

Thanks to the fantastic foundation and training that Danceworld has given me over the years that I have been here, I will be starting the next stage of my performing arts education at LMA London University doing BA Hons Musical Theatre. "
