General Information

As a school Danceworld has a very professional approach to teaching and studying dance. Students are expected to attend regularly, and give full effort to their work. Not everyone wants to dance professionally, and we are happy for students to gain whatever they can from their time with us, either performance skills, good posture, confidence, and / or discipline. It works, and this shows in our results. The school has been recognised by the Stage Dance Council International, and has been awarded a certificate in recognition of the high standards continually shown at the school.

Candidates who pass their examinations, from Grade 3 and above, with over 95%, may be entered for BATD scholarships, and many of our students have had this privilege. Being entered for scholarships is the culmination of years of hard work both on the part of the students and their teachers. Many students have successfully attended the scholarships in Blackpool, Manchester, Liverpool or Glasgow, and winners receive, in addition to their trophies, a grant to continue their dancing within their school. A great achievement indeed.

Students who show above average potential in any theatre subject are encouraged to have private tuition to prepare them for competition / festival work. We enter several festivals throughout the year, again with much success. Our students on average bring home over 100 gold, silver and bronze medals each year for their performances and also have been awarded Best All Round Performer trophies, Most Promising Student awards, Best Boys and Best Dance School Display awards.

We put on spectacular shows every two years at one of the local theatres, and parents are always amazed to see what their child/ren can achieve. We are very proud of all of our students. Danceworld has had the privilege of performing our own show at Disneyland Resort Paris, at the Barbican Centre in London, and at the Ideal Home Exhibition, as well as providing dancers for many other shows, including pantomimes, touring ballet companies and local theatre productions.
